About Liz

Get to Know Your Neighborhood Photographer. Elizabeth, Florida. 1980-Something.
Hello! I’m the Elizabeth behind Elizabeth Says Photography, but feel free to call me Liz. Since 1982, I have been roaming this earth. I am a DC area native, but I’ve also been blessed to experience many different places. I’ve lived in Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and now I am finally back home in Washington DC, with my fiance, and our darling pooch, Horatio.

I fell into photography somewhat accidentally, several years ago. I’ve always had something of an artistic bent in my personality, but I can barely draw a remedial stick figure. I was in close proximity to someone who not only enjoyed photography, but had practiced photography professionally for a number of years.
I picked up a camera. I started snapping away. I was told that I had “an eye” for photography, and the rest is history.
Now you can barely pry my camera out of my fingers. I employ a photo-journalistic style, whether I’m capturing scenery or a portrait. I am working on building a professional portfolio currently, as I pursue freelance photography.
Freelance photography, as a profession, is a passion for two reasons. First, I love to take pictures. As simplistic as that sounds, you cannot be good at what you do if you do not love it. Second, as a bride, I know how frustrating it can be to find a photographer within a reasonable price range. I do not believe that the beauty of a memory in a photograph should be unattainable. That is why I do what I do.
